Part XXXV: Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hubby J and I have been watching old Twilight Zone episodes. We just saw my favorite, "Time Enough At Last". Burgess Meredith plays Henry Bemis, an avid book lover who only wants to read, in a world full of people trying to prevent him from doing so. His wife even takes a marker to and rips up a book of his favorite poetry. Mean!

He is taking his lunch in the vault of the bank he works at, so he can read in solitude, when an atomic bomb just happens to go off, killing everyone in sight, except for our hero. At first Henry is worried and frightened, he has enough food to last, but what will he do? Then he stumbles on the remains of the public library, still filled to the brim with books. As he sits down to read, finally, having time enough at last, to read all he wants, he bends down and his glasses fall off and shatter. Dang it! What a world!

I do love this episode for many reasons, one of them being that I also love to read, so I can relate to poor, nerdy, spectacle wearing Burgess. Thankfully I am not surrounded by people who are trying to stop me, but I can relate to the need for solitude. Especially to read.

ANYWAY, now that I have that out of the way, here are photos from my latest cookie recipe, the Hershey's double chocolate chip cookies.

Dry ingredients

Dry ingredients plus sugars, vanilla, butter and eggs. Cookie dough, duh.

Add chocolate chips

Mix

And Mix

Verdict: Yum! The cookies didn't turn into cow pies, like so many of the chocolate chip cookies I make tend to be. That, and they were soft. Yum! These were keepers.
