I put on an album by the band Architecture in Helskinki as I started to prepare. I realized that if I did not pay too much attention to the either the music or lyrics, and even the voices of the singers, the album was quite good. If I listened too closely however, notes of whimsy crept into the songs that would irritate me if I did not immediately tune them back out.
These cookies were as easy to make as the previous two, with the only oddity being oatmeal as part of the ingredients.
Not much else to say, except I made the cookies, frosted them, and here are the pictures to prove it.
Verdict: These are keepers. As the weeks and the cookies go by, its getting more difficult to tell whether I would make something again. I definitely know when I would NOT make something again, but since all the cookies are starting to run together, the tasty ones don't stand out as much as they used to. However, I bet these would be crowd pleasers, as demonstrated when I took to them to a friend's house yesterday.
Side Note: I just finished reading two collections of short stories, one by William Trevor, and the other Colm Toibin. Both are Irishmen and write about their native land, as well as England, France, and even America and Spain. My money is on William Trevor-he was more my style. I highly recommend both, but William Trevor was definitely my favorite.

Hermits: They call for raisins, but I am going to substitute prunes, not only because I dislike raisins in cookies immensely, but I've got a jar of prunes that i have no idea what else to do with.
Molasses Oatmeal Cookies
Basic Icebox Cookie Dough/Maraschino Date Pinwhweels: This recipe is, as it states, is just your basic cough dough. But underneath the recipe are three different ways to prepare the dough: Maraschino Cherry Cookies, Maraschino Date Pinwheels, and Maraschino Thumbprint Cookies. I thought that the Maraschino Date Pinwheels were both the most disgusting and complex option, so that's what I'm going to try. I like to both gross out and challenge myself.
