Part XXXXII: Chocolate Oatmeal Chippers

This week's recipes all called for real butter instead of butter flavored Crisco, which was a nice change of pace. When I have baked in the past, many times the recipe calls for unsalted butter, but not in this book. I find that interesting and I wonder why. I am curious if the salted butter in addition to whatever the recipe calls for makes a difference in the cookie's taste. What I need to do in a future post is make a batch of cookies with salted and unsalted butter, and have a little taste test. Stay tuned!

This recipe was simply a double chocolate oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips. I also added some chopped pecans.

Here are photos of the basil we just planted, and some flowers blooming in my yard. I knew you, my faithful readers, would be just so upset if I didn't include them.

Verdict: Good, but not great. I think I've made these before, at least once.

Next Week's Selections:

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Treats

Hershey's Chocolate Chip Blondies

Heavenly Almond Treats

Next week my hubby and I will be on the coast, celebrating his soon to be graduation. Stay tuned for cookies on the coast!

Part XXXXI: Double Chocolate Cranberry Chunkies

I brought my camera along when my husband and I went to the nursery to pick up some basil for the garden. As I mentioned before, it was so gorgeous this weekend that it was imperative that we left the house! Here are some photos I took at the nursery.

I'm expanding my repertoire photos of flowers NOT in my yard.

Now back to cookie time. The recipe called for dried cranberries and cherries. I used both just for fun. They are a gorgeous red color, especially with the light streaming through the window and the clear bowl.

The recipe called for me greasing the bottom of a glass and dipping it in sugar, and flatten the cookies with it.

Verdict: Tasty! Soft and chocolaty, but they could have used more cranberries or cherries. Definitely a keeper.

Part XXXX: Butterscotch Sugar Drops

Another week, another batch of cookies. This recipe called for butterscotch chips
and chopped dried apricots.

I thought that was an interesting combination. Let's see how they turned out.

The weather was sunny and warm this weekend-hello summer!!! You've finally arrived!!!

A rare instance of my three kitties enjoying the weather that I could capture on film.

Now back to the cookies. I didn't take a lot of photos this time around, I wasn't very inspired.

It seems I have quite a few more photos then I thought!

Verdict: Although the butterscotch chips were once again too sweet for my tastes, the cookies were soft and I liked the addition of the apricots.
